"Vengence is Mine"

Author: Lt.j.g. Tyvek and (Ret) Cpt Saitek
Earthdate: May 17, 2386
Location: USS Vengence in the Briar Patch

Now residing as guests aboard the large starship Vengence, Saitek and Tyvek made very good use of their visit. Tyvek wasted no time in getting to know the ship's science officers, while Saitek made way to the ship's infirmary and an old friend.

Sickbay...

The older woman wore her hair up in a twentieth-century bun, sporting the older traditional white doctor's coat. For a woman in her late forties, her figure completely flattered the blue and black Starfleet uniform. And her name was Doctor Zahn.

"Quah see tu?" asked the Vulcan female.

"It is I. It is agreeable to see you again, Doctor," replied Saitek.

"Spare me the platitudes, Captain. It is however, good to see you as well. How is your health?" Zahn asked.

"I was hoping to ask you that. I have a theory I would like to discuss with you," Saitek replied.

"I was not aware that you had retired from Starfleet only to pursue your medical degree," Zahn rudely concluded.

"Must we always argue, Doctor?"

"Forgive my forwardness. What is your theory?" she replied.

Saitek went on to inform her of the magical regenerating powers found inside of the Briar Patch on human and alien tissue, citing for example Commander LaForge from the Enterprise remarkable eyesight healing.

"You have thought long and hard on this, Captain. I must warn you though that we have only a working theory here," Zahn answered.

"If you are to help me you must first call me Saitek. I am no longer the ship's Captain."

"That would not be acceptable, considering our past relationship," Zahn said.

The Bridge...

Tyvek sat beside the Andorian as he continued to run the necessary scans of that sector. The goal was to track down the tachyonic signatures of the cloaked mines that the runabout had deployed.

"Captain, we have recovered ten of the mines and have found that one of them detonated. I have also detected a warp signature on approach to the Serenity system," the Andorian reported.

"Very good, Lieutenant. Helm, lay in a course for the Serenity system. Mister Tyvek, we're going to take you home. Helmsman, engage," Captain Nala commanded.

The Vengence was the largest starship ever built in the twenty-third century, possessing three Excelsior class nacelles. In her day over one hundred years ago the Vengence had been the dreaded enemy of the Klingon Empire. And had been the catalyst to their manufacturing of the K'vort class cruiser.

Had she not been lost in the Amenous Nebula, history might have changed this reality. Emerging in that nebula a whole century later had aided when the Venturi attempted their small but concise attack some few years ago. Saitek had begun as a junior science officer and later grew through the ranks until finally commanding the ship. And did so until two years ago when he had been diagnosed with Bendii Syndrome.

Pursuing the alien trail, the Vengence transwarped out of the system and arrived at the Serenity colony a few minutes later.

"Entering standard orbit," the helmsman reported.

"Open a channel to Commodore Hunter," Captain Nala commanded.
