Donovan sighed slightly, enjoying the break. With the signing of the treaty, the SAR detachment was enjoying a quiet moment for once. What with the crash of Starfleet One and other minor call-outs, the unit was definitely ready for some down-time. Nico opened his eyes and looked around the office area that he shared with Stone and the unit's XO and then down at his desk. Maybe I thought too soon, Nico thought, realized the paperwork that he had to catch up on. After action reports on the SAR suit's performance, requests for re-supply to replace used parts and inventory, and of course, the appointment to see the local shrink for his check-up. Nico sighed again, realizing that he couldn't keep putting that particular duty off, even if he was buried in paperwork.
Nico started attacking the paperwork with a vengeance, making short work of it and submitting it for Stone's approval and attention. In the meantime, the officers had disappeared to parts unknown, leaving Nico in the office by himself. Must have been really involved if I didn't notice them heading out, Nico thought as he stood up, walking out of the room and downstairs to the hanger area.
Walking up to the SAR vessels, he ran across Johannsen doing maintenance work on the SAR unit equipment. "Any idea where the Boss went?"
"No idea, Chief. But I was just wrapping here myself. I was going to start speccing the suits next and start the recharge cycle too."
"Good idea, but keep your hands off of my suit, David," Nico said with a smile. "I know how much you're dying to get your hands on it."
Johannsen laughed. "Nah, I'll take my suit any day. I don't need all that medic gear anyway, just slows me down."
Nico chuckled slightly at David's response, enjoying the banter. "Well, as much I would like to stay and babysit you, I've got an appointment at Medical. If the Lieutenant gets back in, let him know that I'll be back."
"Roger that, Chief. Gonna go check out the new Corps unit?"
"Which one is that?"
"The new Rapid Responder unit. I figured with you being ex-Corps, you were going to head over to say howdy."
Nico looked back at David, "Hadn't heard anything about the new folks yet, thanks for the info, David. After I get done with my other business, I might have to look them up. See you later, David."
Johannsen nodded to Nico as he walked away. A new Corps unit and a Rapid Response unit at that. Will definitely have to say hello, maybe it's someone that I know, Nico thought as he walked towards the Medical building.
