"The Morning After"

Author: Jaya Bourne, Tyran
Earthdate: August 5, 2386
Location: Jaya's home

Jaya awoke to the sun shining in her face. She felt an arm around her waist and a body up against her back. She sighed contentedly. It had been the first time in years she had invited a man to spend the night with her... The whole night anyway, and Tyran's presence was almost comforting.

She noted the time before rolling over. It was already noon. Tenderly, she kissed him to wake him up.

"Hmm?" he mumbled, and opened his eyes, for a moment not knowing where he was.

"Good morning," she smiled. "Or should I say afternoon?"

"Depends on the time," he mumbled and yawned.

"It's noon," she laughed softly, her green eyes dancing in the light shining in from the French doors that lead into the backyard, as her auburn hair fell against his arm.

"Then I better wake up." He smiled and stole a kiss from her. "I need some raktajino."

"I think I can manage that," she smiled as she rolled over to get up out of bed, the sheet slipping off her. She quickly left to get two cups of the Klingon coffee, taking no note of her lack of clothing.

He shook his head and got dressed. The night had been very entertaining to say the least, and the house looked great, although all he had seen was the front room, hall and the bedroom.

It wasn't long before Jaya was back with the mugs in hand. She handed him one and sipped on her own.

"How do you like the raktajino?" she asked as she finally put her own mug down to slip on a silk robe. "Oh, and you're more than welcome to use the shower. It's over there," she said pointing to a partially opened door in the room.

"Thanks, I'll use it." He smiled and sipped from his drink. "This is excellent, and yet I make it better," he teased.

She laughed. "Then next time it'll be your job to make the raktajino," she replied.

"Outside my establishment others may do it," he kept teasing. But finally he put the emptied mug down and retreated to the showers.

She could hear him sing. "Oh what a beautiful mooooooorrrrningggg." He had a pretty good singing voice, she noticed.

She laughed to herself as she took her raktajino outside in the backyard to sit on her porch swing. She needed a shower herself, she thought as she sipped her Klingon coffee and though about the evening before. It had been a good night, she thought to herself, and knew that coming here to this world had been the best decision she'd made in a very, very long time.

Tyran shut down the shower and appeared in her garden. "Clean and neat." He grinned. He was dressed in clean clothing, since he'd taken a sonic shower.

"Now it's my turn," she smirked as she got up, dropping the robe to the ground, letting it pool around her feet. She smiled playful before turning around and heading to the shower herself, not even thinking anything other than teasing him with her body.

"What are the scars from?" he asked calmly, taking note of the marks on her back and shoulders.

For a moment, her body almost imperceptibly stiffened. She then looked at him, her green eyes meeting his, "Accidents..." she said softly.

"Accidents?" He waited for more of an explanation.

"Sometimes a girl just has bad luck," she replied, shrugging her shoulders a bit.

"Bad luck?" He shook his head, knowing it wasn't the truth and yet, he knew that she would tell him when she was ready. That time just wasn't now.

"What can I say?" she replied, a soft smile crossing her face, trying to make light of it. "I'll be back in a few minutes. Make yourself at home," she said as she picked up the robe and walked back into her room.

He shook his head again, and started to wander through the rooms, hoping she would not mind, but he did want to get a look at the house.

Jaya allowed herself under the jets of the warm water wanting a real shower, instead of a sonic one. She allowed the warmth to relax her as she fought the surfacing memories that related to the scars. She didn't want to think about them or what had happened... It brought her real life back to her too vividly and that wasn't what she wanted. After 15 minutes, she finally got out and dried off, slipping into black pants and a comfortable green shirt that brought out her eyes.

She checked the backyard and noted that Tyran wasn't there. She then felt his presence in the house and went to find him.

He found her exercise room and looked impressed. The floor was covered with training mats and the walls were covered with various weapons. There were staffs, knives, swords... even a bat'leth. There were also various phasers and phaser rifles. There was even a punching bag. An the far side of the room, near the window, there was even a low table with an incense burner, a container filled with incense and several places meant for candles -- the candles she had bought the day before, he realized. He wasn't such a sports type himself, but she had said she was training... or had been trained.

"There you are," she said as she smiled and put her arms around his waist from behind.

"I was admiring the house, and your gym."

"You like?" she asked playfully.

"Yes. Better than my small place." He smiled. "But at least then I am close to the bar."

"I suppose you are," she replied. "I prefer space. Sometimes I need it..."

"So do I. But then again, my work is very important to me."

"I imagine tending bar can be very interesting," Jaya replied. "Different people and situations very night..."

"Oh yes, I hear things, and I see things that would make you shiver."

"It takes a lot to make me shiver," she smirked as she leaned in and kissed him.

"Oh does it?" He kissed her again. "Maybe you forgot how."

She laughed, "I know one thing that makes me shiver. You..." she said playfully. "In a very, very good way..." Her eyes danced.

"Oh do I?" He kissed her again, and his eyes laughed. "But we can't go on like this all day."

"Oh, why not?" she replied with a laugh, her green eyes alight with mischief.

"I have to be fit for tonight, it is not like I can go back to bed afterwards."

She kissed him once again. "Well, then I guess we'll have to take it easy for the day. You know, you can come back tonight," she said. "If you want..."

Part of her couldn't believe what she was saying, but she was speaking the truth. She hadn't felt this good in a long time... and his presence made her feel even better.

"I think it would be it worth to come back, only problem is my shift ends at 03:00, meaning I have to close up, and I won't be done until around 04:00." He sighed.

"You're still welcome to come back," she replied with a smile. "Or we could just meet for a late lunch tomorrow and see what happens?"

"That sounds good, expect me to be here around 13:00. I have to be back around 15:00 to open the joint again. Work never stops." He sighed.

She laughed. "Well, everyone needs a break every now and then," she replied, for a moment thinking of her own life. "Now what about today? Lunch? It's my treat."

"Very well. You treat me, so you pick where you want to have that lunch." He flashed her a smile and waited for her decision.

"Well... I saw a place in my wanderings yesterday called The Golden Wok," she replied. "The menu looked pretty good. Have you ever been there?"

"No, but something tells me I am going to see what it's like, right?" He grinned.

She laughed. "I think so..." she replied. "Let's go."

But just as they were about to leave, a personal communicator chirped. Jaya sighed and rolled her head around her shoulders once as if trying to relax.

"Sorry, I have to get that. One minute, okay?"

She walked into one of the other rooms and opened the channel.

"Hi... No... This is my vacation, remember?" There was a pause and then she sighed. "All right, I understand... How long do I have? Okay, just send the information through... Yes, I know the newest encryptions... Okay..." With that, she closed the channel and returned to Tyran.

"Sorry again... Business calls," she sighed.

"So I guess you'll have no time for lunch?" He looked in her eyes.

"Oh no, I have time for lunch," she said, her smile finally creeping back. "I just may have to leave on business in a few days."

"That's too bad. Just know I will be waiting for you to come back, Jaya."

She smiled. "And I'm looking forward to coming back." Tenderly she caressed Tyran's face and gazed into his eyes. "So! Now it's on to lunch?" she asked.

"Yes, I am mighty hungry." He smiled and followed her over the streets to the establishment. He held her hand all the way there.
