Lt. Shara Mikori arrived on Serenity with her sister Lt. Commander Karissa Bentara, Dr. William Hancock and the twins, Luc and Maya who were now 22 months old. They had all been stationed on the Ronin, which had been attached to Starbase 901, but with the Starbase's move, several of the officers had requested transfers. Many had transferred down to Serenity.
Karissa looked around at the Space Port and sighed, not sure if this was the right move. Part of her had not wanted to leave the Ronin. It had held wonderful memories as well as darker ones.
Will tenderly put his arm around her. "This'll be better for us... and the kids," he said softly.
She nodded, her dark eyes meeting his. "I know. It's just... hard to say good-bye."
Karissa leaned her head against his shoulder and sighed.
"Think of this as a new beginning for all of us," he said softly.
She nodded. "I know. I am the counselor after all," she replied with a smile creeping across her face.
"Well, I don't know about you two, but I'm going to settle in and then maybe take in some of the city," Shara smiled. But her mind was on Tyvek. All she knew was that he'd gone into the Briar Patch on a mission. No word had been heard back. She was sure he'd be surprised upon his return, or as surprised as a Vulcan could be, she mused.
"I think we should just focus on settling in before we do anything," Will replied. "Have to think of the kiddies, you know."
At that, Shara went to the front of the stroller and knelt down. The twins looked at Shara and giggled. "Okay, munchkins, you have to take care of your mom and dad for me."
"Shah-rah!" Maya said with a giggle.
"Shara! Shara! Shara!" Luc replied enthusiastically.
Shara laughed and kissed each on the cheek. "Silly little guys!"
Karissa and Will smiled.
"We'll see you later," Karissa replied. "In fact, how about dinner?"
"Sure!" Shara replied. "Just let me know when!"
"All right, we'll do that," Karissa smiled.
Shara then grabbed her duffle and walked off. "Bye," she called out as she left.
Karissa took a look up into the sky, her heart still unsure of this new path. Will caressed her face, causing her to look at him.
"It's going to be all right," he said as he smiled reassuringly.
Together they headed out of the Space Port.
