Lt. Shara Mikori, with her transfer orders in hand was led into Commander Wallace's office. As she looked at the man behind the desk, she straightened her posture wanting to make a good impression. A few years ago, it wouldn't have mattered to her as much.
"Lt. Shara Mikori reporting for duty," she said as she held out the PADD for him.
He took it and reviewed the orders. "You're from the Ronin-A," he said.
"Yes, sir," she replied, her brown eyes reflecting her confidence in herself.
"But before that, you had three transfers I see. The Concord, the Kennedy and the Parnassus. The notation in your file indicated that you've had problems fitting in."
"Before being transferred to the Ronin, that was true, sir," she replied.
"So what exactly changed?" he asked, curious about the lack of negative reports after her transfer.
"I discovered the truth," she replied.
"And what's that, Lieutenant?" he asked.
"That I was designed to be a weapon and to be a loner. But that I didn't have to be that way, sir," she replied. "It's always a choice."
He nodded. "Seems that you've matured over the years."
"Thanks to my sister, sir," she replied. "I met her aboard the Ronin."
"Sounds like quite a story."
"It is. The important details should be in my file, sir, should you care to look."
Wallace looked at the young woman in front of him. "Have you got settled in?"
"Yes, sir," she replied.
"Good. Relax today because tomorrow the work starts."
