Commander John Daza walked into the gym alone. He saw the Romulan Riol sitting on a training mat in the middle of the room. He seemed to have no weapons with him.
"I knew someone would come," Riol looked up, "but I expected the Vulcan to come for me personally."
"He was," John crossed his arms, "but I decided to do the honors instead."
"Good human." He stood up and waved the Human to join him.
"Ok." He walked forward to the mat. I'm no match for this alien. Oh what the hell. He flexed his muscles. "Let's play."
"There will be no play here Human," Riol went into a fighting stance, "one of us will die here."
"Even if you do kill me you won't get away Romulan." John went into a fighting stance too. Damn why didn't I ever bother to learn anything else but ancient earth boxing.
"That is true Human." He swung a leg at John that was too fast to deflect, hitting John in the stomach. John lost his breath and landed hard on the mat.
"Jeeeez." John punched the mat and got up again. The Romulan smiled.
John threw a few punches at his enemy with no effect, he found himself on the floor again with a broken nose and a broken arm.
"Now I kill you Human." The Romulan moved in for the kill but John rolled to his right out of the way of the coming leg.
"You missed." John smiled as he wiped blood off his nose and tried to move backwards with the same hand but was making little progress. I need security or I'm dead, and for that I need my comm. Badge. He looked around and saw it next to the main gym doors, a set of boots stood next to the communicator. He looked up to see the owner of the boots a smile spread across John's face.
"You won't be killing my commander Riol." Kiok stepped over the badge and approached them taking of his black officer's jacket he let it drop on the floor.
"I see." The Romulan stepped back on the mat and John crawled away toward the wall cradling his broken arm.
"Let's do this I have more important matters at the moment." Kiok stepped on the mat and towered above the Romulan. He opened and closed his hands making fists.
Riol looked around and seemed to be in a bit of panic. His hands reflexively went to his neck remembering the strength the Vulcan possessed.
Kiok moved in and his speed was impressive for a man his size. He backhanded the Romulan across the face; Riol flew fifteen feet and hit the wall. He staggered to his feet green blood flowing down his chin from his mouth.
"I may die today Vulcan, but your empire and the Federation will not survive this war." He charged the Vulcan and Kiok just side stepped to his right and brought his knee up into the Romulan's face, an audible crack was heard as bone broke. The Romulan fell on the floor.
"Is he dead?" John stood up with Kiok's help.
"No." Kiok turned and picked up his jacket and started for the door.
"Isn't he dangerous." His right arm hanged on his side.
"He won't harm anyone ever again," Kiok turned and tapped his index finger to his head, "as far as we are concerned he is dead up here."
"He lost his marbles." John said as he picked up his comm. Badge and followed Kiok out.
"Marbles? He had no marbles." Kiok was puzzled. Humans always did this even after many years of interacting with them.
"I mean he lost his mind."
"Ah. Yes he did. Call a medical team and a security team to the gym just in case."
