It had been nearly 4 hours since Commander Wallace's away team had rescued the forgotten prisoners that were listed until today as, missing presumed dead. The runabout was quiet as most of the away team was asleep as were the freed prisoners. Richard was at the science station working on his report to Commodore Rick Hunter. He stopped at the end of it and erased the ending three times in a row. Something didn't sit right about one of the freed prisoners.
Lieutenant Myron Okul was at the helm again his mind was deep in thought about the what had happened. Okul was finding it hard to believe that this mission went from a survey one to a bloodless rescue mission on Star Fleet's part.
Richard placed his PADD containing his report on the empty chair next to him and turned to the LCARS terminal, he had a gut feeling to run a check on the Cardassin Gul Clavick. Before doing so he thought to himself. Maybe I'm just doing this cause he's a Cardassin? No, I'm not racist.
"Lieutenant Okul." Wallace said breaking the silence.
"Yes Commander?" Okul asked turning his chair around to face Richard.
"If I run a check on Gul Clavick, would you protest it, or think it was being biased?"
Richard asked doubting his own gut feeling.
"What would be your basis for such Commander?" Okul replied making a very uncomfortable silence.
"Well, he is a Cardassian that fought for the Dominion. After the war 12 Cardassain Gul's that were charged with War Crimes disappeared. However he said he's been missing for 12 years, wouldn't he...." Wallace was interrupted.
"Sir that is what he says. He however did fight the allies for one year so it would be reasonable for you to run a back ground check."
That was all Wallace wanted to hear, he quickly entered the Gul's name in the Computer, and hit search. It took only a matter of a minute. And this was what showed up.

For War Crimes against the Federation during a time of war for Violation of
Article 1-6 of interstellar Law during war time.
I knew it. Wallace then downloaded this into his report. And then looked up the Gul's Service record and saw that he was a friend of Dukat, and was a big propionate for the Cardassa joining the Dominion in early 2373. In fact it was his name and Dukat's name on the pact signed with them and he lead the coup against the Deutopa counsel that eventually lead Dukat to take power.
"Lieutenant Okul, would please accompany me." Wallace ordered as he stood up and walked towards the cabin. Walking in Gul Clavick was sitting in at the table drink green leaf tea. He looked up and saw the two officers.
"Ah good to see you Commander, Lieutenant. You know I was going to walk up to the front and see if you would care to join me..."
"Gul Clavick under Interstellar Law, and Authority granted me by the United Federation of Planets. I am placing you under arrest for Violation of Article 1-6. As I don't have the means to place you in a holding cell. I must ask you not to leave my site." Wallace said with a firm tone.
The flight back took another 10 hours it was late morning when the Majestic arrived back to Serenity. On the planet side space dock. Gul Clavick was escorted to the federation holding cell as was the Mulluran prisoner, who was back on his feet.
Richard walked over to Commodore Hunter's office and pressed the door chime. [Enter] Was the reply. Wallace walked in seeing the Commodore sitting at a small sofa reading a report of sorts. He looked up at Wallace and saw his uniform was dirty from something but had no idea.
"Sir I have completed my report on the rescue of the missing prisoners. The two G'kra will be picked up by their government in three days. I've already arranged guest quarters for them and the other 3.
In doing a background check I've found a Cardassian War Criminal he's being detained now as we speak.
The Mulluran will be interrogated by me tomorrow sir. The rest of the information is in the report sir." Wallace stepped over to the Commodore. Who took the report.
"At ease Mister Wallace. That was a mouth full. I am recommending you in a week go back with the Sutherland and investigate the Space Station.
I understand the rescue went well. Not a single away team member lost his life." Hunter said standing up and walking over to the food replicator.
Richard gave a pleasing grin. "Yes sir. First time in a long time."
"Excellent, Commander. I am going to note that in my report to Star Fleet. I'm sure Admiral Ross will be pleased.
I'll be honest Commander with you. I was afraid you were going to waist your next 4 years here by giving up a Captaincy. Your a good officer glad to have you here." Commodore Hunter said giving Wallace a pat of the back and smile.
This was the first time in many years that Richard felt good about his actions. He was also very pleased with himself.
