"Welcome Aboard the Franklin. Commander Wallace and Lieutenant?" A Human female who was about in her late to mid thirties said greeting the two officers as they beamed aboard her ship.
Richard looked around and saw the transporter room was nearly the standard size for a Federation ship. This was the first time he had ever been aboard a Nova class. He saw the woman was wearing the Command Red and had Commander Pips like Wallace. She had her light brown hair shoulder length.
"Thank you, Captain? This the sector and Serenity Colony JAG officer Lieutenant McGrady."
"Lieutenant, Commander. I'm Commander Grace Telly. The Franklin's CO. I would love to have my two Senior officers here but they are busy plotting the Pirate's warp signature that was left at the scene of the Sutherland's attack. Could we please head on to Astrometerics?"
Richard liked the ship's Captain she had already begun the work he had in mind. The three officers left and walked towards Astrometerics which took five minutes. Walking in Richard saw that Astrometerics was a big part of the Nova class ship. Which made plenty sense, have it be the ship was a survey and explore class.
Two men were at the console that looked at a giant computer screen. This was a map of the entire sector and looked like the map that Wallace used and studied during the Second conflict. "Commander Wallace this my first officer Lieutenant Myers, and my Second Officer Lieutenant Voltes." Commander Telly said, causing the two officers to turn around.
Richard noticed that Voltes was the ships Science officer and a Vulcan. It was hard sometimes for Wallace to work with Vulcans. Sometimes he felt as though they made him feel inferior, but that Wallace being Wallace.
"Commander we believe by there Ion trail they head to sector three one Beta. Lieutenant Voltes feels this is true but believes it is unlikely they are there now." Lieutenant Myers said informing Wallace of the Progress.
"Well, sounds like a place to search. I think it is worth an effort to try there. Commander I mean Captain, as the adviser to this mission I think we should depart for that sector at Maxuim warp." Richard replied looking at the Captain and trying his best not to make her feel as if he was taking over her ship.
"Very well then. Ensign Hallie set a course to sector 3-1- Beta. Maxium Warp." Captain Telly said giving Wallace a friendly smile that relayed a since of trust.
Lieutenant Voltes then spoke out loud with the usual Vulcan logic.
"Commander Wallace, it will take us roughly 16 hours at Warp 8.2, to reach that sector. It is a high chance the Pirates won't be there?"
"Well Mister Voltes it's a chance like wearing that uniform."
The five officers made it to the bridge and Wallace met the Tactical officer Warrant Officer Coldin a Bolian. Richard sat on the guest chair for a few hours reading over the Franklin's defensive capabilities. Damn this class of ship isn't not meant to fight.
"Captain Telly. I have been a combat soldier all most my 22 years wearing a Uniform so please take this advise." Wallace said upon hearing the ships First officer from the Helm/CONN station stating that they were only 6 hours away from the destination.
"Most certainly Commander." Telly replied.
"You should transfer power from Science Labs 4-6 to the shield generators. If your engineer increase the power coupling input by .31 microns the generators won't over load.
Also Emergency power should be routed from replicators and cargo transporters.This will give the ship 45 minutes more power. You don't have to take my advise to heart but please take it under advisement." Richard asked in a polite tone.
Sixteen hours into the chase the Franklin came to an area of space that was charted by probe 5 months ago. It contained a Class J gas giant and a lifeless moon. nearly 5,000 Kilometers behind the planet was a nebula.
"Come to a stop. Mister Coldin run a scan on the surrounding area for power signatures and anything of that nature." Captain Telly ordered.
Coldin was running his scan when something appeared out of the ordinary. What ever it was came faster towards the ship. "There is something out there a power signature but almost like a cloaked ship it's only 4 meters in length."
Then it hit the aft section of the ship causing a descent explosion knocking everyone to the deck."Shields." Telly screamed trying to get up as conduit ruptured.
"A ship is moving out from behind the moon and heading towards the nebula."
"Helm?" Wallace replied jumping to his feet.
"Warp drive is off-line, one impulse engine and it's only capable of 1/4 speed." Lieutenant Myers said in a angered voice.
Damn. Was the thought of everyone on the Franklin.
