"A Much Needed Holiday"

Author: Jaya Bourne, Tyran
Earthdate: October 16, 2386
Location: Small Island

It was early morning when Jaya left the little house that was on the small island her and Tyran were staying on. It was the same island that had the beach he had taken her to on her birthday. There was solitude there and she enjoyed it . . .

She walked down a short path to the beach, found a spot and sat down in the sand watching the waves roll in and out.

Tyran had beaten her there and was swimming. He'd left his towel on the beach and because they were all alone, he'd gone skinny dipping.

She smiled as she saw him. He stopped long enough to glance at her. With that, she waved.

He waved back and swam to the beach. "Awake, honey?" He smiled when he got out of the water.

She nodded. "Yeah . . . It's a beautiful morning," she said looking at the bright sky dotted by only a few white clouds. She sighed contentedly.

"I hope you don't mind that I didn't put on trunks before swimming?"

She laughed softly. "Like I would mind looking at your hot bod?" Her eyes sparkled in the sunlight.

He grinned. "Well you might," He teased and kissed her.

"Not likely," she smirked. "In fact, its way too enticing . . ." With that she stood up and kissed him. She raised an eyebrow as if questioning him what he'd do about it.

He responded to her kiss, and pulled her into his embrace, feeling her whole body against him...

"Mmmmmm," she smiled. "I think I'll take more of that, sir . . "

"Then what's stopping you?" He grinned.

As she kissed him again, he picked her up and placed her on his towel.

They made love with the sounds of the ocean as their background music.

As Jaya lay in Tyran's arms, she looked up at him and kissed him again, tenderly. "I'm glad we came here . . . Very glad . . ."

"I'm glad that Alec promised us that no matter what, we'd have a whole week for ourselves. I think he feels pretty guilty. After all, he almost drove us apart."

"On the anniversary of the worst day of my life too... Of course, that made it a pretty bad day all by itself . . ." she said. "Well, it wasn't a good day for either of us, was it?"

"No, Danayal forbade me to interfere with Klingons ever again. Not sure if I can do that."

"Well, try . . ." she giggled and kissed him again. "For me . . "

"I'll do my best." He promised.

She grew quiet and a bit unsettled. "I guess now, you can say you've seen me at my worst . . . Or . . . well, close to it."

"Jaya, I know that when the Dark Shadow's dead, you can mourn. I understand that going after him is something you need to do. That's what Alec made clear to me, when he came to see me before we left. I can wait. I love you and I am here for you."

She snuggled into him. "I know it sounds terrible, but I have to have my vengeance . . ." she said with a sigh. "The crazy thing is I can almost accept David's death . . . But not Emily's . . . Maybe part of that was the fact, he'd been able to have some kind of life . . . Emmy never got that chance . . " She said softly.

"Yeah, I understand that. Better than you'll ever know... Maybe you just need to get to know me better too."

"Well, I know you're coming up on your 600th birthday . . . That you once had a human wife named Susette . . . You were unable to have children and that she designed the place you live in," she said. "I suppose I should ask you at least what your favorite color is." She smirked.

It was good to see her smile again.

He smiled. "If you want to know, it's red." He said. "And what's yours?"

"Purple . . . and green," she smiled. "And of course black." she winked. "But then again, black isn't technically a color. Did you know that?"

"Yeah, I've been to school too. long ago. I went to a university..."

"Which university?" she asked curiously.

"On Lagharna, that's a colony on El Auria . . . was a colony." He corrected.

"I'm sorry . . ." she said.

"Don't be. I haven't talked about it with anyone besides Suse. Maybe I just wanted you to know."

She smiled gently as she felt his fingers in her hair. "Well, I'm sure eventually we'll know all about the other . . . I, on the other hand, went into Starfleet Academy, then went to the Medical School . . . I had actually worked as a physician for a few years before transferring into Research. Research had been my passion . . ."

"I was doing a law study. I wanted to become either a lawyer, or a judge. I hadn't decided what I wanted at that point."

"Well, my life is far different than how I imagined it would be . . " she replied. "David had been the one in Starfleet Intelligence. It's how I met Alec . ."

"I didn't think I would end up as a bar owner." He said with a slight smile.

"I guess life's just meant to be one surprise after another . . . No one being able to set their course and have calm sailing all the way through . .." It was after October 11th and her emotions were starting to settle a bit. It still hurt, but was always worse on the day she lost David and Emily.

"For me the worst date of all is December 22nd; the day my colony was attacked by the Borg. The next worst day is June 1st, the day my wife was murdered."

"You never mentioned she was murdered . . ." Jaya said softly.

"She was." He sighed. "By some drunk in the bar."

"My god . . ." Jaya said softly. "I'm so sorry . . ." She cuddled into him closer.

"It happened long ago Jaya, but then. I almost sold the bar..."

"I could understand why you'd want to . . ." she said. "But I also understand that by keeping it, you were able to keep part of her . . "

"Yeah. I know that Suse loved the bar and the small place we lived in. That bar was my outlet. Before that she served as a scientist in Starfleet. I don't know if you ever heard of the Giazantep theory?"

"Of course," she replied. "Everyone in any of the scientific fields knows it. It's required reading."

"That was her work, and that of her partner, Alvin Preorta."

"I remember now . . ." she said. "It was just so long ago I didn't connect her and the theory . . . She was really something . . . Very intelligent."

"I always wondered what she saw in me. Before we came here to open the bar, I was gallivanting around the galaxy, and I'd had at least a few hundred jobs. I wasn't half as intelligent as she was."

"But I suspect you've always had a big heart . . ." she said as she kissed him tenderly.

"You think I have a big heart?" He was taken off guard by that announcement.

"You have to have a big heart . . ." she replied. "You're with me, aren't you? Most men would have high-tailed it and run, I think . . . They would have run, far, far away," she smirked.

"I don't think so . . . maybe, but I'm not so sure, Jaya." He smiled and kissed her again. Just relaxing like this, for Tyran was wonderful and he wished this week would never have to end.

"Why do you doubt it?" she asked.

"Because you're not as bad as you think you are, that's why."

"What makes you say that?" she asked with a sly smile.

"You're beautiful, smart, you love children. no one loving a child like you do, is entirely bad."

Her smile softened as she relaxed further into his arms.

"Well, I guess I'm not the typical assassin . . ." she said as she sighed. "Who would have thought . . . Medical Researcher to Assassin . . . Quite and occupation change."

"From law student to bartender and some other jobs I did; varying from taxi driver to shuttle pilot."

She laughed softly, trying to picture him as a cab driver as images from old Earth movies played in her mind of cabbies and their strong accents, driving like madmen down the streets.

"What are you thinking of?" He asked.

"Just imagining you as a taxi driver. It made me think of some really old Earth movies where you could barely understand the taxi drivers as they spoke and they all drove like maniacs."

He laughed. "That's really movie stuff. Many had accents yes, but some didn't, and I do remember they came from all over earth, with that job as the only means of existence. Back then I had to hop cities after ten years or twenty years."

"I can imagine . . . It would have caused quite a stir if they'd known about you back then . . ." she said. "Like they would have if I'd been around then as well . . ."

"Yes, but back then you were not even born yet, chickie." He said grinning imitating the cab driver accent.

She giggled and kissed him. "And to think I use to think I was old!"

"Nah, compared to me you're still a child that has a lot to learn about life."

"And are you going to teach me?" she replied playfully.

"Maybe . . ." He smiled and relaxed in her arms.

She kissed him again. "I wonder if we could get Alec to extend our vacation . ." she said again as she ran her fingers through his hair.

"I might say I am overworked, would that help?" He said lazily, feeling they really needed this.

"I think it could help and Alec already knows I am . . . He's had to force me to take breaks in the past. This time it's me asking for them . . But we definitely needed this." She kissed him tenderly.

"Yeah, we did. Maybe we should ask right away. Then if he says yes, I can tell Danayal he has to manage on his own a week longer."

"We will . . . as soon as we go back to the house," she smiled. "I have other things in mind first."

With that, she kissed him again.
