Logan was sat in the mess hall of Starfleet HQ in Serenity City. He was there on a visit, partly to introduce himself to his superior officer Commander Wallace and partly because there was a monthly Security briefing planned.
The briefing over, Logan had decided to stay around for a while and get to know the place and some of the people before he returned to Lake Town. He'd conversed with some of the other Starfleet Security officers and the Serenity police who had been invited to the briefing.
Lake Town had a small police contingent of its own. Most of the officers were actually attached to Serenity City police force, but worked a month long stint at Lake Town. The space port and the Starfleet offices were Logan's domain, whilst any problems involving Starfleet personnel in Lake Town would be a joint investigation. All other problems were the domain of the local police force, but they could bring in Logan and his team if required.
Now Logan was eating his meal and thinking of nothing in particular. He had taken a table at the far side of the mess hall, away from most of the people who where there. It was mid-shift for most people, so there was plenty of room. Logan could sit and eat alone, reading through the data padds in peace. Or so he thought.
"Mind if I join you?" A female voice enquired.
"Sure." Logan replied without looking up from the padd he was reading.
The female sat opposite Logan and placed a tray down on the table.
"Anything interesting?" The young lady asked.
"Just some.." Logan started to say, looking across at his dinner companion. ".reports."
A puzzled look came across Logan's face as he saw for the first time the Starfleet officer who had sat down opposite. She was dressed in a medical\science uniform and had Lieutenant Commander pips like Logan.
"Something wrong?" The woman enquired.
"No.." Logan replied. ". it's just..do you have a twin sister?"
The young woman laughed.
"I guess you've met Lieutenant Mikori." Karissa stated. "Shara is my sister of sorts, but we're definitely not twins. It's a long story, which I won't bore you with. Let's just say that we're from the same mould, but made from different clays. I'm Lieutenant Commander Bentara, by the way, Karissa Bentara."
"Logan McQueen." Logan replied, holding out a hand. "I'm the new security chief for Lake Town."
"Which means that you've been to the monthly security briefing.." Karissa suggested. "..and it's where you probably met Shara."
"So what's your role on Serenity?" Logan asked.
"I'm the bases chief counselor." Karissa replied with a smile.
