The fall had brought darkness much earlier to Serenity City these days as Jaya walked down the streets in an area known for not being the best. But she'd walked these streets many times before on her way to Tyran's bar, The Starlight Inn. She was meeting Tyran for a late dinner and couldn't wait to see him. A quiet dinner with the man she loved was just what she needed.
Meanwhile, after her brawl with two races of humanoid Sesshriani decided to keep as low a profile as possible for she knew that if she were to get caught by Serenity's cops she would almost certainly have her ship impounded and searched, revealing what she didn't want revealed...the illicit goods. Instead she kept to shadows as much as possible, obscuring any light that my have shone on her and revealing her presence.
Jaya could sense others around her and suddenly knew she was in trouble . . Trouble as in, a fight she didn't want. Not one she couldn't handle. Suddenly, on a patch of the street, darker than the rest, five men came out of an alleyway and surrounded her.
"Where do you think you're going, Ms. Bourne . . ." the leader, a tall dark haired man with ice blue eyes said as he gazed at her.
"I have places to go and people to see," she replied. "And that doesn't include you and your little friends here . . ."
"Well, that's where you're wrong," he replied with a sneer. "We're here to take care of you . . . That's what our boss wants and he's willing to pay a lot for you . . . for your body very dead anyway . . ."
A chuckle echoed around her from his men. She sighed. All she'd wanted was a quiet evening.
"Well, I guess you can have me, if you can take me," she said, her hand casually slipping into her waistband and producing a knife.
Suddenly, there was a flourish of activity as they all tried lunging at her.
Walking alone Sesshriani heard commotion which sparked her curiosity and instinctively she drew her 3P guns and peered around the corner to find a gang lunging at a woman.
So much for my low profile... Sesshriani thought to herself as she began to take aim at the gang.
"Oh boys!" Sesshriani called out to them. They stopped for a moment and looked at her, wearing all black including a long black leather coat and pointing both barrels at them, her long black hair menacing and her ice blue eyes, cold and foreboding. "Didn't anyone tell you it isn't wise to lunge at a woman like that?"
"Mind your business or you'll be next!" One of the men replied. They then went back to what they were doing only to find Sesshriani fired at them knocking both of them flat.
With that, Jaya took her knife, plunged it into the stomach of the leader of the group, swung around and easily slit the throat of the man behind her. As the last man looked at the scene before him he took off running.
Jaya looked at the bodies that littered the ground and sighed. "They just never learn . . ." she replied. "By the way, thanks. Not that I couldn't have taken care of them, but help is always welcomed." a small smile broke her lips.
Sesshriani raised an eyebrow at the mess left behind before holstering her weapons. "You're welcome...I pray however that none of us get caught about these bodies."
Noticing the small smile Sesshriani's eyes softened slightly though a smile didn't break her lips. "So what you doing out in the undergrounds anyway? Judging by the way you're dressed I don't think you wanted this to happen." She looked at the woman's attire slightly. "Let alone get someone else's blood on it."
Jaya almost suppressed a laugh. "Actually, I was on my way to have a late night dinner with my boyfriend . . ." She shrugged. "I guess it's a good thing I have a change of clothes at his place . . . But I wouldn't worry about the bodies . . . something tells me they'll disappear." Little did the other woman know that Jaya would put in a call to her contact to come clean up the mess. "Anyway, the least I can do is offer you a drink."
Sesshriani paused for a moment as she thought about the drink. I guess it gives me an opportunity to make a friend...and get to know the locals here on Serenity.
"Alright..." Sesshriani replied, this time giving a small smile. "I don't know Serenity City very well...hence the exploration. Is there a place you'd recommend?"
"It's just down the street another block and to the left," she replied. "It's called the Starlight Inn. The crowd can get a little rough sometimes, but it's nothing you can't handle," she smiled. "Though I have to warn you, the barkeep wants all fights outside . . . So if anyone gives you any trouble, just take them and through them out the door first." Jaya's grin brightened.
Sesshriani nodded and smiled. "Understood." She then tilted her head to one side. "I think I'm beginning to like this place..."
Jaya laughed. "I know what you mean."
