The Inn

 

Keung Lee sat on the bar stool in the Eagle bar making a few notes on his Padd.  The bar was crowded with guests! Not bad for a bad Thursday night. Maybe it was something to do with the snow blizzard that was increasing. One thing he was pleased about was the recent installation of the transportation pad which had solved the problem of vehicle parking. As far he was aware, the Inn was the only place that not only had a transportation pad but a holosuite as well. Everything else. the exterior not to mention the outside had the look of an Earth 20 th Century hostelry.  Lee glanced at his Padd which contain details of the Inn that he was going to transmit to the Serenity's Chamber of Commerce Business publicity unit.

‘Home Comforts’ was what Alicia decided eventually after days of brainstorming. It made Lee feel at home considering he came from the late 20 th Century.

Lee suddenly felt rather nostalgic for the past! 400 years old!! Well, the reality was that he was actually 40 years old. Ex Special force solider in the British army sent up with a team in an experimental space shuttle, then an internal systems accident resulting in the space shuttle leaving Earth’s obit into deep space with the crew in suspended animation. Then in the 24 th Century rescued by a Vulcan science vessel before eventually joining  Starfleet Academy as a starship security officer.  It was aboard the Eagle that he met and fell in love with Communications Officer Alicia Devries. Whilst on a mission, their shuttlecraft entered a wormhole propelled them 100 years into the future…again rescued by a starship from Starbase 901. With the help of an old friend, Lt. Commander Lee resumed his security role  security leading a special operations team. Adventure followed adventure where  through the persuasion of Alicia Lee (by now married) decided to resign from Starfleet and settle down on Serenity as Inn Keepers.

Lee looked across the bar at Alicia who sitting by the window reading her own Padd. She had spent the last two hours interviewing two possible applicants for a chef and he can see that that she looked ragged

Alicia glanced up from reading her Padd and saw Lee smiling at her and she recognized that nostalgic look.  She looked around and thought about her days in Starfleet, where she ran communications, did research, or was with the team chasing the bad guys.  In some ways she loves her new life but then there are times when she missed the uniform, the activities on ship, and the responsibilities she had as an officer.

"Well, I've chosen the Iron Chef from Vulcan, for the main days and then the 'Montanan' to cook on the days off and breakfasts.  Oh, the Montanan wants to build a barbecue pit and smoke house on the property.  I'll let you deal with that Keung."  She said kicking off her four inch heels and leaning into him.  "Let’s get a drink and sit by the fire and join our guests."
