Tyvek and his colleagues of Gunney and Corporal Smith walked out onto the tarmac near their barracks, to say goodbye.
" Gunney what's the news you have for me?" asked Tyvek.
" Well sir both Smith and I received word that we're to report to Earth for reassignment. According to our orders were to take the runabout with us. Are you being reassigned as well?" asked Gunney.
" No not as yet. This is extremely peculiar though. I was some what astonished when Commodore Hunter was reassigned. And now .... my friends. What are your new positions?"
Gunney paused and then replied.
" I'm being offered a First Sergeant's post and Smitty there is being promoted to Sergeant as my squad leader. We're both being offered a posting at Fort Dix in Jersey." replied Gunney.
*Why would Star Fleet reassign such good frontier soldiers desk jobs?* Tyvek wandered.
" Well I guess this is goodbye then?" he replied.
" Sir its been a honour. We're all packed and will be leaving A-SAP." replied Gunney.
" Sir I've learned a lot from you. Especially about Vulcans, sir." replied Smith.
" Live long and Prosper Corporal."
*Kitomer !*
Saitek had met with the Governor and retired to his quarters. It had not gone well, as Governor Targ had threatened to have his ship destroyed, with him on it. Later Targ had sent over a bottle of Blood wine with an invitation to supper. Apparently, the governor was well taken with his Vulcan/Klingon opponent.
" Captain, will you be accepting the Governor's invitation?" as Tia Gonzales his aide.
" To not accept would be dishonourable. Despite the man’s lack of manners, he is testing my warrior pride. Up until this point in my life I have not been so inclined to embrace my Klingon blood line. Now I must if I am to help keep our alliance with the Empire." replied Saitek.
The young lady nodded and then exited the room.
Saitek arose from his chair and laid down on the slab that was built into the walls. Perhaps a nap would make things better.
To be continued....
