Kaley took a few moments to check her uniform.  It was as good as it was going to get.  Maternity clothes of any form weren't exactly built for style. The SFMC's version of a maternity uniform didn't fit that category either.

No time to worry about that now.  She went in search of Major Alcon.  That didn't take her long. "2nd Lieutenant Kaley McKenzie reporting for duty."

"Have a seat Kaley."  Jayme said sitting down in her own chair.

"Its a pleasure to meet you and I look forward to serving under your command,"  Kaley replied.

"We are glad to have a Rehab specialist on base.  I'm your first patient after you get settled in Officer Quarters.  A Major Danar who is still recuperating on Paladin will be back next week and will be your second patient."  Jayme leaned back in her chair and crossed her hands over her abdomen.  "You will share an office and duties with Lt. Sidle.  She will orient you to the infirmary, base, the comps, and what your duties will be.  I'm actually on bed rest and wasn't suppose to be on duty today."

Kaley nodded,  "Understood Major.  I noticed that you and Major Danar are on my list of people to see.  Also don't be surprised if you get a call from my medical school advisor. Good luck and I'll see you soon."

Sara came around the corner into the office having heard voices in the room.  "Major?  I was told you were bed rest."

"I am, just went for a walk and ended up here and met with our new Rehab specialist.  She's assigned to you as 2nd Lieutenant.  Get her moved in and oriented to base.  You're responsible for her checking physical, passwords, etc...contact me in quarters if there are any problems."  Jayme stood and walked to the door, and back to her quarters, where she changed out of her uniform and laid down on her bed and fell asleep.

Sara smiled, and said, "With me Lieutenant.  Have you found your quarters ?  Do you need any help moving in.  Lets get your physical done and get you your basic codes and then you have three days leave to finish settling in."

It took Kaley a moment to get up from the chair.  "Yes, I've found my quarters.  Someone already arrange help with the getting things moved in, and that’s been taken care of.  I'll I really have left to do is unpack." She followed Sara to the infirmary.

"Have a seat on the biobed, Kaley."  Sara adjusted the tricorder as the other women complied with the request.  She relaxed and watched as Sara performed the scans and updated her medical records, and said, "Wow.  Twins and you're due a month after the Major...we're going to have to advertise for a day-care nanny.  The only thing we don't have on base is a counsellor.  There's one at Paladin Medical Centre, but I think the counsellor will be here one day a week for sessions...but that is just a rumour at this point.  Okay, you're fine.  No heavy lifting, no field duty, there is a second desk in my office and its yours."

"We'll head back there and start setting up the computer works and then you’ve got the rest of three days free."

Kaley smiled,  "I think 'wow' is the mildest thing I said then my previous Doctor told me I was having twins.  One came as a big enough surprise ;but two...Originally, I didn't think I'd be doing this alone and now..." For a moment she paused,  "Heck, I can't find my own two feet anymore so I think field duty is the least of your concerns as much as I normally enjoy a little change of scenery.

"Okay, keep taking the vitamin boosts, maintain the three litres of water a day, get some light exercise, and plenty or rest.  Contact me if you have any problems.  For a moment you sounded upset about your past...if you become depressed then contact me immediately."

"I'll see you in three days.  Here are your codes for all of the systems."  Sara sat down to upgrade the computer records on Kaley.

Kaley nodded,  "I'll do that.  As far as sounding upset lets just say I'm extremely worried to put it mildly.  My husband is MIA.  I haven't given up hope yet but it does change things significantly at least for the near term.  All I can do is take it one day at a time."

"We're here for you and can get resources to help you cope and to manage.  Now, go so I can go kick some ass."  Sara stood and headed out to check on members  of the team which were working on the holodeck on rescue manoeuvres.

"Have fun," Kaley moved to get up and head back to her quarters.  Three days to get settled in seemed like both too short and way too long at the same time.  "I'll see you in a few days.  Thanks for your help."

"No problem.  Oh what apartment are you in?  Sara saw the other woman smile and heard her say, "4-101."  Sara smiled and said, "You're just down the hall from me.  Why don't you join me for dinner at say 18:00 hours.  And don't you go moving furniture give me a holler and I'll bring some friends to help."

Kaley nodded,  "Yeah I have no intentions of moving any furniture around. I'll see you for dinner at 18:00 hrs.  Where do you want to meet?"

"I'm in apartment 4-04. I'm cooking."

"I'll see you then," Kaley replied as she prepared to head back to her quarters before dinner.
