Driving Forces !

The base was a buzz this morning, as Tyvek would soon discover. Usually he would be able to ride his bike up to the guard shack, flash his I.D. and enter. But this morning that was the first of many security measures he had to pass through in order to go to work.

"Lieutenant you'll have to turn off your cycle and stand beside it as I scan you." The guard directed.

"Are we under alert of some kind?" asked Tyvek.

"Yes, We were placed on Yellow Alert at O-five hundred this morning."

"Do you know why ?" He asked.

Before he could answer Shara appeared from inside of the guard shack.

"I'll fill you in once the Sergeant clears you to enter."

The scan took only a few seconds and then the Sergeant opened the fence.

"Where have you been Shara ?  I've not seen you in several days." Asked Tyvek.

"I've been busy. As for the alert I think you may want to talk to the new Commander." Shara replied.

She jumped on the back of his bike and rode up with him to the Commodore's office. She put her arms on his shoulders instead of around his waist.

"Are you going up with me ?"

"No I have to report back to Security. Maybe I'll see you later." She replied.

Tyvek watched her exit down the hall and then chimed the Commodore's office door.
