Daniel Boone (Somewhere in the Briar Patch) |
It was a short friendship that Commander Joel Palatio had with Dexter Gray and Alex Dalton, but it was hopefully a lasting one. He wrote them a letter and sent it through the Federation channel. Hopefully they will get it. He wished them luck in whatever they were doing.
“Have a good one friends. Hope to see you guys again.” He finished the message and shut the computer off.
He got up off the chair, “Now to meet the replacement crew members.”
Stepping outside of his small quarters he headed for the cargo bay. His remaining crew members, except for Yee Wong who was piloting the Daniel Boone, were standing at attention in the middle of the cargo bay.
He approached them and they saluted.
“Is everything ready ?” Commander Palatio asked his second in command, Lt Commander Eleanor Ball.
“Everything is ready sir,” she tapped the communicator on her chest. “Lieutenant Wong is the USS Sutherland in position.”
“Yes sir the USS Sutherland is ready to beam over the two crew members,” was the response from the cockpit.
“Good. Tell the USS Sutherland to beam them to the cargo bay.” Commander Joel Orders the Lieutenant.
“Right away sir,” Lieutenant Wong cut off communications to direct himself to the starship.
A few seconds later the middle of the cargo bay was filled with two familiar sparkling lights. They formed to shapes and in a few seconds two humanoid shapes stood there.
A Human and a Vulcan stood there in the familiar black and red uniform.
“Welcome aboard,” Lieutenant Commander Eleanor Ball walked up to them. They Both saluted. “I am Commander Ball, she looked at Joel Palatio. “This is Commander Joel Palatio, the Captain of this squadron.”
They saluted again.
“This are Lieutenants Tina Strike, Sebastian Torrez, and Tirmark,” they acknowledge each other in their own way.
“I am Lieutenant Stirak,” he raised his right hand in the Vulcan salute. “Live long and prosper.” No smile graced his face.
“I am Ensign Tim Drome,” he shook all the other lieutenants hands, and saluted the two commanders.
Tirmark the Klingon didn’t shake his hand. He just crossed his arms over his chest and showed Tim Drome his crooked teeth.
“Mr Stirak you will be the pilot of the Daniel Boone.” Commander Palatio got right down to business.
“Yes sir,” the Vulcan Replied.
“Captain,” came the voice of Lieutenant Wong over the intercom, “the Sutherland’s Captain wishes us good luck. They are leaving the sector at high warp sir.”
“Acknowledge,” Commander Palatio taps his communicator, “prepare to have Mr Stirak take over.” He points for the Vulcan to go up to the cockpit.
The Vulcan nods and heads for the cockpit.
“The rest of you show Mr Drome around. I’ll be in my quarters if I’m needed.” Commander Joel Palatio retires to his quarters.
