He’s also a bit of a private person, but even that has changed somewhat over the years as life had gotten more complicated. He’s loyal to his family and friends and he’s not afraid to place himself in danger to save other’s lives, though he’s not as reckless as he once was.

Hobbies and Interests

He is an avid chess, and poker player. He enjoys a good adventure novel. Piloting almost anything that flies. Holodeck programs and spending time with his family – Karissa, Maya and Luc.

Background

William Hancock, is a second generation physician, but the first person in his family to enter Starfleet. He was born on Earth, to Doctor. Edward Hancock a local and much respected Physician in London and his wife, Katherine, a very prominent writer.

Will, as his father called him, was bored at the thought of being stranded in one place like his father - a man in his 50s who’d never seen anything other then Ole London.

In 2375 William enrolled in Starfleet Academy to be followed by Starfleet Medical school. There he excelled very well, and was given a 3 week internship on a starbase, during his 3rd year in Medical school. This had excited William very much, seeing things he had only studied.

Later, in 2382 he graduated 5th in his class, but a paper mistake caused him to be assigned at Starfleet Medical to teach basic field surgery. Hancock was very disappointed in this and nearly resigned his commission. But not losing complete hope, he put in a transfer and was accepted on the USS Ronin-A, under Captain Ryan Evans.

While on Earth Hancock managed to schedule pilot lessons on certain craft, and earned a class three pilot license. He was even thinking of changing his field of specialty but was talked out of it by his father.

The night after the Ronin-A was official named, he was invited to go bar hopping with Captain Evans, Lt. O’Neal, Lt. Wang and Lt. Cmdr. Bentara. The night was a blur, but one thing was clear, something had happened between himself and Ms. Bentara.

However, it was quite obvious that Karissa Bentara and Ryan Evans were the ones to end up together.

Sent on an Away Mission to pick up supplies, himself and O’Neal had ended up inside a war zone where, though William tried to save who he could, ended up having to kill someone. This hit him hard as he was a doctor, use to saving lives, not taking them. Then as if that wasn’t enough to deal with, upon his return to the Ronin-A, Karissa came to see him. He had the sense that she’d wanted to talk to him, but he had taken her to an examination bed first, when he discovered she was pregnant with twins. One of which was his. But without discussing it, he’d let her go, only to read the full report on her that had come to light while he’d been gone. However eventually, they did speak about the pregnancy and his child. It was also obvious that he still had an attraction for her, but knew she wasn’t his and didn’t try to pursue it; though she was adamant about them remaining close for their child’s sake. He’d agreed. At one point during the pregnancy him and Ming Wang had to scramble to save her life and the lives of her children. It was in the nick of time that they came up with a way to keep her body from shutting down and was even more disturbed by the fact that someone had designed her that way . . . so that she could never reproduce without killing herself and that of her off-spring. Eventually, the twins were born healthy and happy. The first moment he held his daughter in his hands, his heart melted.

The toughest time was when the crew of the Ronin tried to take the Iconian Gateway from some pirates to stop a Kelvan incursion into the Milky Way Galaxy. Though their attack was successful, Captain Ryan Evans was stabbed and pushed through the gateway by the Naussican leader of the pirates. Karissa had not been able to get to them in time, but in her rage, she killed the Naussican. What followed for her was a feeling of utter devastation and there was nothing William could do for her, except be there for her when she needed someone.

Eventually, their friendship grew deeper and when the Ronin-A was transferred to Starbase 901, they got closer. Though there was a distance with her as well. But what changed everything for them was a virus that was released on the Station. He had an undeniable need to be with her . . . They ended up together once again. But this time, as the virus was neutralized they were still together. He understood that there was still going to be times that she would grieve for Ryan, but he finally got her to see that she needed to start living again . . . and that he wanted to be part of that.

Eventually, they moved in together to build on their relationship and so he could help raise the twins.

News of Starbase 901 being moved traveled fast through the station and the ships. Many officers were putting in transfers. Together he and Karissa spoke about where they might transfer and she had mentioned her sister Shara going to Serenity. After more discussion they decided together that it was probably one of their best options.

Their transfers were accepted and they transferred down to Serenity Colony.
