Distinguishing Physical Characteristics

Whilst Ash is not a very tall figure, his heritage hides a very strong and powerful individual. With dark, piercing eyes he can also appear very cold at times.

Personality

He is easy going, though a bit more on the serious side. He takes his work seriously and he takes his sister seriously, though there are times where he can let loose and play with the rest. He gets along with most people. Someone has to give him a reason not to get along with them.

Background

Ash was born on Miracos III while his father was on an expedition hunting for ruins of a lost people that were rumoured to have lived there. After his father found the ruins, they lived there while he excavated for the next six years. He spent his time playing with the native children and helping his father on digs once he was old enough. After that, they moved to Kritarus where his father began assembling his work and papers to present at a lecture back on Earth.

During their time on Kritarus, they had heard of a laboratory fire and a surviving infant needed a home. With no persuasion at all, his mother had talked his father into adopting the child. The infant, no more than six months old became part of their family. They all took part in naming her. It had been Ashraf that had chosen the name Rahel. From that first moment, he loved his sister and he never thought of her as being anything other than his sister.

As they moved around so their father and mother could do their work, Ash and Rahel became very close. He was the first one to discover she was empathic and telepathic. As they played he was the one to discover her athletic abilities He knew she was special. She would laugh him off and say she was no more special than him and they would go off and do something he had wanted to do.

Ash was already in Starfleet by a couple of years when Rahel graduated her normal schooling at 14 years of age. She joined him at Starfleet Academy when she was 15 and he was 22.

He had joined late due to staying at home after graduating to help his father at his most recent dig. But then he felt a pull to go into Starfleet. Once the two were there, it was a friendly competition, and they always played. Anything physical and he knew she could whip his butt, but she was always careful not to bruise his ego as they played or show him up around his buddies. He loved his time with her at the Academy. And they had both chosen similar fields - Science for him and she had gone into Medical. Both overlapped tremendously. Anyone who did one, could do the other if necessary. They had also dated, but neither of them dated anyone seriously. Of course, he being older, Rahel teased him a bit about not finding a woman and settling down.

As soon as he had completed his schooling and was given his first assignment at Starfleet Headquarters to do some research. He and Rahel were still able to spend time together until she was finally done with all her schooling for Medical. Her first assignment was the USS Baltimore. He never realized how hard it would be to say good-bye to her. When word got to him about the attack by the Proktonans and all the dead, he worried until he had confirmation from her that she was all right on Starbase 638.

As she stayed on Starbase 638 as their CMO, he had put in a transfer to her location as a Science Officer. It was granted. Then when she put in for a transfer to the USS Taurus, though he wasn't sure it was a great idea for her, he did the same. He was concerned for her, feeling that she needed to be guided. He knew her ordeal on the Baltimore hadn't been an easy one. Though they are not blood related, they have a bond that can't be broken.

When the Taurus was heavily damaged, Ash became very protective of his sister. When the crew of the Taurus was transferred to the USS Leviathan-B, both Rahel and Ash transfered onboard. During this time, Rahel started to have nightmares once more, a mixture of the lab fire when she was a small child and what happened on the Baltimore. Also during this time, Rahel formed a relationship with another member of the Leviathan crew, Lieutenant Logan McQueen. At first Ash and Logan didn't get along, but as the two males began to get to know each other for the sake of Rahel, who they both loved things changed.

When the Leviathan-B was lost in late 2385, the three were separated. Ashraf was assigned to the USS Hawthorne as Senior Science officer and found himself exploring the Alpha\Gamma quadrant border. Logan and Rahel took six months leave of absence in the hope of finding some clues to her past, but to no avail. Eventually they were re-assigned to different vessel and after six months of being apart they realised that they needed to be together.

So in October 2386, Logan and Rahel moved to the planet Serenity, Rahel as the CMO of the Lake Town field office and Logan as the Chief of Security. Logan proposed to Rahel on Christmas Day 2386, before Rahel fell into a telepathic coma. Hearing the news of Rahel's illness, Ash left his vessel and traveled across the Alpha quadrant to be with his sister.

Being with his sister once more made Ash realise just how much he missed her and he put in a transfer to Starfleet to be re-assigned to Serenity. He was finally given the position of Senior Science officer (Including a promotion to Lt. Commander) of the Lake Town field office in February 2387, where both his sister and Logan were also based.

Rahel and Ash's parents also came to Serenity upon hearing of their adopted daughters illness and broke the sup rising news that they too were considering moving to Serenity. For the first time in nearly fifteen the entire Kahfre family would be together once more.
