Based on the same spaceframe as the Danube & Yellowstone runabouts, the aerowing (or Aeroshuttle as it is sometimes known) was designed to be a long-range shuttlecraft to compliment the new Intrepid class deep space exploration vessel.

Slightly longer than either of the runabouts that the spaceframe is based around, the vessel has modified warp nacelles which are integrated into the shuttles wings and an enhanced sensor package. The weapons and shields are also enhanced and the vessel has superior atmospheric flight capabilities. The Aerowing is designed to be docked into the ventral saucer section of the Intrepid class vessel, locking almost flush with the surrounding saucer hull to avoid distortion of the structural integrity fields and shields.

The vessels versatility made it an ideal vessel to transport and house small groups of personnel on short-term, deep space research missions in high-risk areas of space and over a dozen vessel were constructed specifically to perform this mission profile.

The exact situation as to where and when the Mol-Kom was constructed or how it fell into the hands of Vaughn Jackson are unknown. However the vessel is registered in his name for the past five years.
