Writing and Submitting Posts

Header

All posts should use the following format for the header:

Title: Episode Name (no quotes around title)
Author: Rank First Last (rank and full name)
Earthdate: Month nn, yyyy (fully write out the date)
Location: the log's starting location

The closer you stick to the exact header format the happier your GM will be. (The reason for this pickiness is that to convert your posts into web pages for inclusion on the Serenity web site, they are processed by a homemade computer program which requires the headers to be exact.) For the Title line, use the word 'Title', not 'Serenity Episode' or anything else, and do not use quotes around the title. For the Author, do not use 'Authors' plural. This should be the primary point-of-view character, not a list of everyone in the post. Similarly for the Location line—it should be the post's starting location, not a run-down of everywhere you go during the episode. Here's a properly-formatted example:

Title: Shut That Hatch!
Author: Captain James Kirk
Earthdate: July 11, 2268
Location: Outside cargo holds, K-7

Italics

You may want to italicise certain words or phrases in your logs. Ship names are usually written in italics, as are things that a character is thinking to himself, or words that just need to be stressed. To make a word appear in italics font, enclose it in asterisks like *this*. This is for the benefit of those of us who can receive only plain text email, and also for the aforementioned computer program, which converts asterisks into actual italics html formating.

Example 1 - Ship Name
The *USS Enterprise* assumed standard orbit around the red planet.

Example 2 - Thoughts
As he passed the new yeoman in the corridor, Kirk thought, *Wow! She's pretty cute.*

Example 3 - Stress
"Do *not* feed the tribbles anymore!" admonished Dr. McCoy.

Email

All Serenity logs are emailed to the GM at Webmaster. DO NOT email your logs to the Yahoo list or hit the Reply button on other people's logs. Email your posts only to the GM. Anyone not following this guideline will be fed to the targs!
