USS EAGLE HISTORY

The USS Eagle was launched in 2247 from Starfleet's San Francisco Shipyards under the command of Captain Lewis Mayweather on her first five-year mission. The Eagle was responsible for many first-contacts during that time, including the Caitians and Edosians. Captain Mayweather went on to command a second five-year mission until he was killed in a surprise attack by a renegade Kzinti frigate. The Kzinti vessel was destroyed, but a badly-damaged Eagle was forced to limp home on Impulse power only three years into their second five-year mission. She spent nearly two years in drydock undergoing repairs. Then, in 2260, command of the Eagle was transferred to Captain José Mendez, who commanded her during her next five-year mission. The ship returned once again to spacedock in 2265, this time to receive all the latest system upgrades that were available. Thus newly-refurbished, in 2266 the USS Eagle was assigned to the command of Captain Nicolas Cutter and assigned a new five-year mission of Galaxy exploration. Only one year into the mission however, Cutter resigned from Starfleet to pursue a personal vendetta against his brother's murderers, and First Officer Chloe Young assumed command. At this time, the Eagle was chosen to field test a new bridge component—the tactical station. Captain Young's first action was to repel a Romulan incursion across the Neutral Zone, but shortly after that mission, the Eagle once again was assigned a new Commanding Officer, veteran Captain Mark Harrington.

CONSTITUTION CLASS OVERVIEW

The Constitution class starships set a new standard of excellence in almost every applicable field - they are simultaneously the fastest ships, the most advanced exploration platform and most powerful combat vessels in known space. The four hundred and thirty crew enjoy a standard of crew accommodation unknown on other vessels, while the diplomatic facilities rival those of all but the most elaborate Starbases. The Constitution class serves as a mighty deterrent to both the Klingon and Romulan Empires.

The Constitution class ships are designed for long duration missions with minimal outside support, and exploratory missions typically lasting up to five years.
